When we began our homeschooling journey, I, like many others, was unsure of where to begin. I was overwhelmed trying to figure out how to fit everything into one day. I thought that our day needed to look like the public school system, but at home. I doubted my ability to teach my children. I read numerous blogs, scoured Pinterest and YouTube for guidance, and shed many tears.

As time went on, I noticed that all these mothers shared similar advice.

Don't Rush

Take it easy.

You don't have to do it all.

This guidance inspired me to explore ways to slow down our daily routine. One approach I found was embracing slow mornings and morning baskets/morning menus.

Does every morning look the same? No. Do we always enjoy a relaxed, slow-paced morning? Not always, but one consistent thing I have my kids do every morning is their morning menus.

Little Wanderers Schoolhouse Morning Menus
These are our morning menus, which feature just a few of our Little Wanderers Schoolhouse morning menu pages.

Maybe you've heard of these before

If not, I have much more information on them on our morning menu page. Linked below!

In regards to our experience with them, I just want to say that my kiddos love their morning menus. They love when I change out the pages and add new things that they've never tried before. It's quite fun for us all.

How do I get pages for morning menus?

Initially, I purchased some pages from different websites online, and I still use some of them today. If you choose to go that route, it's completely fine. However, over the past year of doing our morning menus, I've realized that I can create my own pages or even find some resources for free, which I consider the best option.

We offer free morning menus printables on our website due to our love for morning menus. Linked below! I'm passionate about their benefits for our family. If they work for you, great; if not, that's okay too. That's the beauty of homeschool—we decide what we do.

What do I need to start using Morning Menus?

Truth be told, you can use something as simple as a page protector or you can go with an actual menu. I went with the actual menus, so here is the link to the ones I purchased online.

You will also need some whiteboard markers and erasers. Oh, and I highly recommend getting a cleaning spray. If your kids are like my kids, then they might just forget to erase a page and then come back to it another day and say, "Hey! Someone didn't erase, and now I can't see the page!" Believe me, it happens a lot.

Homeschooling has been such a blessing to our family, and I will forever recommend morning menus to those who ask for my advice. I love the independence it gives my kiddos and the simple peace it brings to our mornings.

You got this, Mama!

Hello! My name is...

and I am a homeschool mom.

I like to think that I am a simple creature. At a very young age I came to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I’ve still had struggles in life, but through it all God has never left me. I’ve, also, always known that He had a call on my life for something great, and as a child I would say “when I grow up I want to be a mom”. Now, I am beyond blessed to be a wife and mother, which I think is pretty great. All of this (Jesus, Wife, Mother) is me in a nutshell.

Some of my favorite things include singing, hiking, nature, reading, Lord of the Rings (movies, books, games—anything), Anne of Green Gables, baking, being with my family and the color green.
