You Must Have SO Much Patience

Recently, I was selling some children's clothes on Facebook Marketplace. A woman contacted me to arrange a meeting time, and I mentioned that since we homeschool, I'm quite flexible with scheduling. She replied, "Oh, I wish I could do that." I casually responded that she could and moved on. However, when we met, she asked, "Okay, so how do you do it?" I was a bit surprised but shared some of our experiences and explained that it's not always easy. She then said...
"You must have so much patience."

I laughed and told her "I hear that a lot, but it is far from the truth."
I know that I am not the only homeschool mama who has heard this before. It's funny how many people actually believe this statement.
There are days when I feel so overwhelmed and exhausted that I end up crying, filled with every negative thought about myself imaginable. There are also days when I get frustrated with my middle for yet again forgetting the letter H, with my little for distracting his big sisters from their work, or with my big for asking for yet another snack.
Hi, I'm Melissa, and I am human. I have emotions, and I make mistakes.
Is there some big underlying purpose to this blog? No, not really! My intention is to simply encourage and share reality.
If you want to homeschool, then homeschool. And if you do, then here are some things that I have learned in the last 3 years.
Endless patience doesn't exist.
Homeschool doesn't look like pins on Pinterest or Reels on Instagram. It's real life.
Stay flexible!
Stay teachable!
No one is better suited to teach my children than me.
And all of these things are true for you too!
You got this mama!

I think there are also too few people willing to accept the challenge of patience because it’s refining and forces them to change!
